Colfes or St Dunstans

I’m hoping that someone can share some insight into these schools I’m really struggling to work out what the difference is. Both seem to be really good, all round similar type schools producing thoughtful, engaging students, getting similar results. (ignoring recent results as grade inflation seems to skew it) Anyone able to help, share their experiences please.

Bumping for you as also keen to know people's opinions on this. What age is your child?

Thank you! It’s a 10 year old who has just received offers for both for year 7 entry. I’m struggle to tell the difference, as really like them both.

I can’t comment on Colfe’s but all the children I know at St Dun are so happy. Seems a great fit for most and I think it would co-Ed London school of the year

Compare the actual journeys and check out specific sports that both schools play for each sex and how many get to play fixtures. Check out any other hobbies DC has and how well they are supported.
Both are meant to be lovely nurturing schools.

Thank you everyone so far. Good tips re the sport and one does cater a bit more for their specific interest. Commute is similar so really feel like I’m trying to split hairs deciding.

Will your child have the chance to attend taster days at the schools before you have to decide @viewsoftheshard? Or even just another chance to visit them both?

We had the same choice and in the end went for St Dunstan's. I'm sure that our son would have been happy in either school, but St Dunstan's is slightly easier for us to get to, and they also had a very effective post-offer marketing blitz - a whole week of on-line and in-person activities which really gave you a better insight into the school.

Maybe our son will see your child there in Y7 in September?!

We had the choice between the two schools last year and chose Colfe's. Our Child's preference too - we spent time post offer revisiting the schools. It seemed easier to talk to and get access to the head at Colfe's - just ask the admin team, they also arrange coffee mornings and did additional tours, but St D did a lot around additional info sessions and open days / evenings too - they're much better at marketing than Colfe's were, but I found it less personable.

Any child will do well at both - so maybe it can be more about practicalities around commuting - esp think where the other pupils are coming in from and where their friends are going to be - they spend a lot of time there, evenings and at weekends with sport etc.

Generally, we liked Colfe's pastoral care, exam results are v good / positive and going up (and much more consistent pre / post pandemic) - and i liked the passion of the teachers, they're experience and enthusiasm for their subjects.

@viewsoftheshard hi I know it's an old post but wondered what you went for in the end and any light on your experience?

Also if anyone knows about cricket and football at both these schools? Number of teams etc. Thanks!
