Royal Masonic School for Girls

We are considering moving Chorleywood way and am wondering if anyone has any experience with this school? My dd will be starting year 7 in 2023 and wouldn’t do well in a very pushy school.

It’s a very good rounded school. It “competes” with Northwood College and St Helens in that area which are probably seen as more pushy.

I know very clever girls do extremely well there and those who need a little extra pastorally or with mild SEN be properly supported and reach their potential. Great facilities although it does feel very large.

Another school to consider would be Pipers Corner - school buses from the Chalfonts.

Thanks for that Zodlebud. Dd1 is actually at St Helen’s but I don’t think it’s right for dd2. I haven’t heard of Pipers Corner, I’ll have a look.

Two of my best friends have/had daughters at The Royal Masonic (4 girls in all), and are generally very happy with it. If anything I would say that the completely un-pushy friend is even happier with it than the mildly pushy one.

Pipers is lovely, but I'm not sure you'd be wanting to go from Chorleywood to High Wycombe every day. I guess if you were the Chalfont side of Chorleywood it might be OK but I'd recommend doing the journey at school run time to see for yourself.

Thank you, that’s really good to hear. I’m trying to find somewhere to move to that wouldn’t make it too arduous for both girls to get to their schools as Dd1 is happy at St Helen’s so want to keep her there.

Anywhere on the Met line north of Chorleywood would enable your other daughter to continue at St Helen’s and for you to consider Pipers Corner. Their bus route is extensive. Amersham would be perfect and give you the option of Royal Masonic. Pipers isn’t in High Wycombe but just past Great Missenden. I would let school transportation do the strain.

Another school to add to the list is Abbots Hill. Renowned for pastoral, and a school bus from Chorleywood.

Fantastic! Very happy to have other ideas!

I am aware of quite a few families who have daughters at both Pipers and St Helen’s around South Bucks - both schools have extensive coach networks that serve Beaconsfield, Gerrards Cross, The Chalfont, Amersham.

Thank you for your comments. Dd2 currently is more sporty and arty and academic work is an unfortunate side-effect of going to school! Hopefully that will change soon. Good to hear RMS caters to a mix.
