BOA - Dance pathway

Looking for advice from those who have children have applied for this.

DD is 12 and in year 8. She would like to apply for year 10. Applications would need to be in this time next year.

She has singing experience from a choir but her main experience is dance. Like many she has danced since age 3. She dabbled in ballet and tap until about age 5 but has continually had lessons on Modern Jazz ( and more recently Contemporary and Commercial). Modern Jazz is what she has completed exams in. They have performed in a lot of shows doing all three subjects. So she has been doing this for 9 years.

She has about 4 hrs a week of lessons. (Three with one dance company and one through school.)

But is this enough?

I mean, I appreciate that none of you can see her to see how she performs, but is the basis of what she does enough?

Or do the kids who are successful in applying have a lot of experience in other disciplines, eg ballet, ballroom etc.

I’m quite a laid back and down to earth parent so don’t want to encourage something that is way beyond her ability.

Hi
My DD was at BOA last year but doing the a different pathway. I will ask her to check in with her dance friends. I do know that one of her friends who danced from very young and spent weekends in London did not get in. Others were at the local dance school tap, modern and received places.

Ballroom would be pretty unusual.

I don’t think the standards at BOA are overly high but I guess most would have studied ballet and jazz or modern with some having done street dance/tap/contemporary as well.
