I am for India and looking a seeking admission for my son at Bedford school for 6th form. Can someone help me with

  1. Experience with International students for 6th form admission
  2. My child is on Autism Spectrum ( Asperger's), what is the kind of support should I expect
  3. Anything else I must know or prepare for.

Would your son be boarding? The school website says And with boys from many different cultures and nationalities, they are afforded a global outlook that they wouldn’t otherwise have access to. - but obviously that could mean anything.

You really would need to talk to the school about the level of support they could offer your son.

Have you applied yet? Or attended any real or virtual open days?

Hi, my ds has just left Bedford School after 7 years and is now at university. He is also on the spectrum and whilst they did not offer special support his differences were always respected. They treated him as an individual and his aspergers was just part of him. He did have access to calm rooms if he was feeling over whelmed. He did have some trouble when due to his autism he did not handle an issue with a teacher appropriately which led to a conduct warning. I do believe the school did deal with it well - ds has to function in the real world in the future and they helped him understand why he shouldn't behave in that manner.

My friend’s son is here. They are an international family too. She thinks the world of the school. Her son does, too !

I am exploring right now...intend to visit the school in April. He would be a day-boarder. I am keen to know how easy or difficult it is to seek admission as an international student.

Do you mean a day boy? My son was a day boy so he came home every night. Otherwise there are weekly boarders or term boarders or else you can board on an ad hoc basis. Assuming your son fulfills the entry criteria I don't think being international will be a hindrance. Obviously the covid made my son's last year ( and the final term of year 12) not the same experience as it would have been but the school made it work for the boys. Good luck with your son's application
