Dunblane High School

Hello, we have offered on two houses in catchment for Dunblane HS (offers not accepted, still looking) and had heard really good things about the high school in Dunblane. More recently we've heard more mixed views. Would please appreciate honest and recent insights about the school please. Bullying seems to be a concern? Sports available? Is it cliquey? Two daughters, relatively quiet personalities, one would be current S1 youngest S1 next year. Would love to hear views.

We used to live in Dunblane and my DD1 went to Dunblane HS from S1-4 and did her standard grades there (it was a while ago). It was a good school. It is a pretty middle class area and the kids tend to mostly be pleasant and hard working.

Thanks, appreciate you sharing your experience. Think it is helpful to hear as many experiences as possible.

My niece actually just started Dunblane High School for first year in August. The school in her catchment wasn't actually this one but she seems to really like it so far. I haven't heard anything negative being mentioned so far. My sister sent her to this school as the others in her catchment weren't as good.

Good to hear your niece is really liking the high school glad she is. Thanks for your thoughts

Sorry I should have added that she came from a primary school in Glasgow and knew no one. I think I was more nervous for her but she has done great and made friends.

My children went there and both went on to good universities. The young people tend to be very middle class and have parents who are interested in their education. There is not a lot of social diversity. A few years ago there were some departments who could have been stronger in terms of learning and teaching.
No high school is perfect, but I felt it was good for my kids.
Wallace High School near Bridge of Allan has more of a social mix and is therefore further down the league tables, for what they are worth. Many young people do very well there. I have quite a lot of insider insight into the school. The ethos is great and the Headteacher exceptional in my and many other people's opinion.

That is a big step, will be similar for mine, really helpful to know. And well done her! Good news!

Thank you for taking the time to reply, really helpful.

Could I just double check there I'm unsure if the last point about the headteacher relates to the head at Wallace or Dunblane (thinking its about Wallace but would love to know as insider insight is valuable stuff). Thanks so much

The Headteacher at Wallace is generally considered to be excellent
