I can see a thread for girls but not for boys. My son is current year 5, moving into year 7 2023 class.

We just sat the Hampton 10+ test on Saturday and waiting for the results now. Fully expecting not to get a place, as v competitive and I don't think we did enough prep with our son, but still fingers crossed for a miracle!

Any other parents going through the sw London entrance exams with their boys out there?...

Wow well done Pencilsready's son!! Good luck for the interview. It is such a good opportunity to get the secondary school in the bag!

My son successfully sat the 10+ Hampton last year. Good luck with the interview and feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

We were given the statistics on the day of interview. I believe it was 250 sitting the exam, about 70 called back for interview and 35 places offered. Best of luck to your son @Pencilsready.

Pencilsready · 13/11/2021 21:14

Thanks @paintingrainbows100. Useful to know potential numbers also.

I was on the lookout for something on this exam last week but just found this post now. My son was also called back for the interview. This is all new to us so don’t really know what to expect. It seems we should not prepare for the interview but I have heard they interview about twice as many as they have places for so it will still be very competitive. At least it is good practice!

examnerves · 14/11/2021 22:22

Well done and good luck to your son billie. I personally would do a bit of prep, not send with a script but just give them an idea of what to expect and to answer with a full sentence etc.

Congrats on the interview @BillieL it’s so tough on them if they are turned away after an interview but it’s very hard to prepare for too. Good luck.

BillieL · 15/11/2021 09:42

Thank you both! We’ve been trying to have lots of relevant conversation.

Good luck to your son to pencilsready. And also to yours examnerves for KGS.

How did it go for your boys at the interviews?

OP posts:
Pencilsready · 24/11/2021 07:36

Thanks, DS seemed to enjoy it & it went fine as far as we can tell! The school told us over 200 set it and they interviewed about a quarter of candidates. We should hear next week if successful.

BillieL · 25/11/2021 09:54

Similar here, it was all quite informal and easy on the boys. Hard to judge how it went but we hope!

examnerves · 26/11/2021 08:09

Good luck to you both!

Has anyone heard anything at all yet, I think results are due today aren’t they?

Ststreet · 30/11/2021 14:55

No. Still waiting.

Pencilsready · 30/11/2021 14:56

Nothing here yet! Yes today was the day!

WaitingWaiting21 · 30/11/2021 14:58

Good luck all, we are still waiting as well. Seem to remember the interview results were later in the day as well. Really hope it’s good news all around x

BillieL · 30/11/2021 15:21

Every communication we have had in the process has come really close to 5pm. So I am guessing it will be similar today. Good luck everyone!

WaitingWaiting21 · 30/11/2021 15:23

I’m sure it’s to avoid people sending quick fire replies!

paintingrainbows100 · 30/11/2021 15:45

Last year, it was around 4.30/5pm. Best of luck.

BillieL · 30/11/2021 16:47

We got a no for now 😔

paintingrainbows100 · 30/11/2021 17:06

Ah, sorry to hear that @BillieL but your son will be in good shape in 12 months. He did so well to get an interview and this experience will stand him in good stead for the 11+. I hope DS is not too upset about it.

Pencilsready · 30/11/2021 17:39

@BillieL so sorry to hear - especially after coming so close but good experience. If it’s any consolation the head said any rejected at this stage usually get in at 11+.
We’re delighted our son has been offered a place! It’s been a very long wait since exam/interview. So proud of him.

BillieL · 30/11/2021 17:57

Congratulations @Pencilsready, a great achievement! Thanks @paintingrainbows100! We hadn’t built up expectations too much thankfully!

paintingrainbows100 · 30/11/2021 18:02

Well done to your DS @pencilsready. Enjoy celebrating!
