How many hours per week of PE/games in years 9 and 10?

Our children are at a rural prep school which they love and the timetable includes 1 hour of sport per day. We and they are very happy with this.

We are looking at senior schools for Year 9. It seems the boarding schools still provide almost daily sport but the day schools drop to twice a week in Year 9 and possibly once a week in Year 10 (if you do not do Sports GCSE). The day schools have a shorter day and I assume this is part of how they achieve this.

Both of our children are quite sporty and we consider this as a part of a rounded education. Is it normal to only have 1 PE lesson / day a week in years 9 and 10? Is the expectation that parents will drive children to sports clubs after school (we are rural and I work full-time so the logistics of this is not straightforward).

Leafy SE comp here. Y7-9 get one single lesson and a double lesson of PE scheduled a week. Y10 & 11 get a double lesson. School ends at 2.30pm and every day there is a range of clubs which kids are encouraged to do, not all sports. They try and get everyone doing at least one extra active club a week (includes dance and fitness as well as football/hockey). There are a couple of early morning (e.g. Judo) and lunchtime clubs too.

So on the face of it quite a lot available, but it does rely on teacher and parental encouragement, I know some kids don't engage at all - probably the ones most in need of activity.

Given the demographics of the area many kids are also involved in sports outside of school e.g. my kids both do 2 extra a week, amounting to another 3+ hours of sport. Again though that requires a lot of parental involvement to ferry to and fro etc.

RampantIvy ok I see the problem. My DC's school is also in a market town but they're able to get the public bus home.
