Glenthorne Vs Greenshaw Vs Cheam High

Hi All,

My daughter is in year 6 and soon we have to decide our preference for secondary schools in Sutton. We are in the catchment of three good comprehensives : Glenthorne, Greenshaw and Cheam high. I am in real confusion regarding the preferences. Virtual open evenings for Glenthorne and Greenshaw has not made it easier to get the feel of the schools. Please can anyone shed any light on these schools or share their experience which can help me in decision making.
Thanks in advance!

I have a ds at Glenthorne (yr 10) - on the whole very happy with the school. They get a lot of homework and have a reputation for being strict. No phones to be seen or heard in school - they will be confiscated. Catchment can be a bit of a lottery because of the banding test. They have a new headteacher this year

Thanks. This certainly helps. Although we live very close to Glenthorne (15 minutes walk), but I guess you are right about the banding test.

I m about the same distance - just over 1000m according to the distance checker on the Sutton schools admissions site. We scraped in on distance for band 6 but it was obviously a few years ago. The admissions info in the Glenthorne website gives distances for each band for the last few years. We wouldn't have got into Cheam High for the last few years. I was impressed with Greenshaw at the time we were looking at schools.

If you get into Glenthorne you should take it, probably Cheam High next and then Greenshaw would be the local view.

Of course it depends how the banding test goes.
