Moving to Worthing with pre-teens, will I have regrets?

We live in Brighton and trying to buy a bigger house, we have 2 DC (10 & 8) and they had I great childhood here in Brighton. My husband wants to move to Worthing as it's much cheaper. I work in Brighton and DC1 will start secondary next September and loves sport and also doing well academically. DC2 has SEN. I'm very happy in Brighton, at any sign of boredom we just jump on the bus and go to town, beach, museum, walk, meet friends and both kids and I have great time. I'm worried that I won't be able to do that in Worthing. We've been over there a few times but it just seems to be empty. There are hardly any people on the streets. Is there anything happening in Worthing at any time? Are there sport clubs for kids? The secondaries seem to be OK from what I can see. What will happen when the kids become teenagers? Is there anything to do for teenagers? Any insight around any of these themes would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Worthing is, if I may speak candidly, ultra boring and about 80% pensioners. I really wouldn't.

Ignore @KaptainKaveman. I moved to worthing from london 16 years ago. Its great for young families with lots to do. Loads of independent coffee shops, bars and restaurants if you get a chance to go out. Lots of clubs: mine did trampolining, football, scouts etc. Secondary schools are all good. Mine are now teens and say its boring but as you know brighton is only 30 mins away on the train. Lots of independent coffee shops and places to eat. The beach and downs are walking distance from most places.

Excuse the repetition!

I grew up in Worthing. It used to have an older demographic but that has changed a lot. Town centre is not great, must be admitted (but neither is Brighton IMO, albeit Brighton more vibrant) but beaches and countryside are comparable. There are tonnes of sports clubs etc though. The thing that might put me off, depending on where you and DH work, would be the traffic, particularly A27 from Lancing College to the Lyons Farm lights. Carpark. Also going out the other way. towards Arundel. Basically, not widening the A27 back in the 80's royally fucked over worthing IMO, even though everyone moaned about it at the time. I'm out of touch on schools but gather that Durrington is reasonably well regarded as is Chatsmore (which definitely wasn't the case 35 years ago).

Worthing has a good youth basketball club but that aside even as an adult I find it a bit dull and 'old'. Personally I wouldn't move from Brighton to Worthing

Thanks for the insight, I really appreciate it :) This is exactly how I felt, that it's quite nice there with young kids but they may get a bit bored later on. Personally my heart is not in it either and I'm worried that it may never change. We had a few more viewings booked in Worthing in the past few weeks, all great houses (in comparison to Brighton) but I think we will stop looking over there and wait for some sort of good luck (winning the lottery?) and stay here, hopefully with no regrets later on :( Would be great to have a crystal ball!

My 13 year old is perfectly happy but he's never lived in a city so Worthing is busy enough for him.
There is the beach, pier, swimming pool, cinema, shopping centre, theatre, museum etc
It's not full of elderly people and I'm not sure how you think the streets are empty!
However if you like Brighton and you don't need to leave then don't.
