Hi,
DD has got two offers for Biomedical Science this year via clearing. Has any one's DC gone or goes there for BioMed? How is it in terms of living, studying? Which one will get your vote?
Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks

Assuming NTU is Nottingham Trent, it has a good rep in general for a lower-league uni. I don't know about that course but I do know a good number of people who went there and enjoyed it and now have fulfilling careers fwiw.

Don't know so much about de Montfort. DD is at Leicester uni and enjoyed the city, but Nottingham is a good lively student place as well. What sort of accommodation offer do you have?

Ds had friends going to NTU and my dh went there and did a stem degree.
Nottingham might be a better place if your dc is social

Thank you, DD has been offered Student accommodation at both NTU & DMU but places are understandably limited.

NTU has a better reputation academically. Nottingham fab place to be a student too. (So I'm told Grin)

OP, DD did biomed at NTU. Loved the course and the city, had a fab time.

It's a well-respected course, it included a year in a lab so by the time they finish the course they are fully qualified (if you do a course which doesn't offer this, you have to do a year of on-the-job training before you are fully qualified).

She's currently living at home so if you have any further questions, do ask Smile

Thank you. Will let my daughter know. She has had offers from Oxford Brookes & Kent as well. DeMontford's offer expired today so NTU is still on the table.
Best of luck to your daughter x

Oh and 'lower league' is a bit harsh – if university league tables are important to you/your daughter then it's worth noting that 2 out of the last 4 years NTU has been ranked higher than Nottingham University, and last year The Guardian table had it ahead of the likes of Bristol, York, Southampton, LSE, Birmingham, Liverpool and Manchester.

I don't believe the Kent biomed course is terribly highly regarded.
Oxford Brookes would be good.

I knew someone would pick me up on lower league. Nottingham Trent is a good place to study, but not as in demand as Warwick or Bristol or Durham or Oxford. That's why it has clearing places this year. So does the lower league uni my dd goes to. Honestly I was using a shorthand and didn't want to offend anyone.

NTU is better ranked academically although I now that DMU has a good reputation for some technology based courses. I know quite a few people and kids who have been happy at NTU.

So for Biomed assuming your dd likes the area etc I'd go NTU.
