I was hoping I could get some feedback on secondary schools in south london since my dd is in year 5 and we're having to make scary choices about what to go for. The schools we might get into (with a bright but not G&T girl who we are prepared to tutor but not prepared/able to go private for) are...
Dunraven
Graveney
ADT
Greycoats
Burntwood Girls Grammar
Stockwell Park (our local)
Elliot
I have posted this in primary as well since it appears to fit into both categories. any tips on other schools also much appreciated.

notabot, I have boys, so can't help much (!) but I have visited Graveney recently, considering their 6th form for ds1.

It has an excellent academic record, and 96% of their 6th form last year went off to university.

I have heard mixed reports about the ADT - one friend is considering withdrawing her son who is in year 7 and sending him somewhere else for year 8, whilst others are more positive.

Have you visited the schools yet? That will give you a better feel for them.

Greycoats... you need 5 years church involvement. Lovely school. Lots of trips abroad. Is a "language" school.
ADT... not as good as it was and the old HM has left. My niece went there so the opinion may be biased.
Elliot.......hmmmm never heard anything good but it's been a while since I thought about SLondon schools.
Graveney ... supposed to be nice
Dunraven.... when I was at school it was not worth thinking about, but things change over 20 odd some years
Burntwood... I think that was on the consider list for my niece
Stockwell Park... no knowledge sorry.

hth

Mars, you're out of date on Dunraven. Several pupils got in to Oxford last year, and it had the Prime Ministerial seal of approval for a while (well, as somewhere to have his picture taken, rather than as somewhere to send his children, but he was out of catchment, as, sadly, is notabot).

That's good to know because I can never pass it without shuddering! lol

Hallgerda · 29/11/2007 20:43

Well, next time you pass it, drop in for a cup of tea

(I live just up the road!)
