Hi -- I should know the answer to this but I don't!

DD has 6th form offers from two places. One has enrolment day on 12th (results day) and the other enrolment is a couple of days later. Is it possible to go to the first enrolment on 12th, but still change her mind and decide to enrol to the second one without detriment or risking her place at the second?

Why? Has she not made up her mind yet? Does she need to know her GCSE grades first?

Thanks for your reply -- a bit of both!

To be a bit clearer:
Two excellent conditional places, both are likely oversubscribed so places not guaranteed and will go to best results. Second school is fave.

If she enrols at the first place on 12th does the other place know? Can it jeopardise place at the second school?

Thank you!

I'm afraid I don't know. Usually you can deregister from any school or college so in theory she could enrol in the first one then change her mind if she gets a place at the second.

Will she not get an email from the second place on results day offering her a place, or rejecting her?

Is the enrolment date actually a "must register on this date" date? Normally you can register afterwards, although I guess if the schools are oversubscribed they may be in more of a position to be choosy.

You absolutely can enrol at one school and then change your mind, though you should withdraw from the place you don't want asap as a matter of courtesy.

@JustALocal unless your area has a coordinated admissions process for sixth forms (unlikely - I don't know of any area that does) then the second sixth form probably won't know she has enrolled in the first after only 2 days, and even if they did it won't jeopardise her offer. That means she can secure the place at sixth form 1 in case she doesn't manage to get a place at sixth form 2. However, if she enrolls at sixth form 2, you should immediately let sixth form 1 know so that they can give her place to somebody else. Bear in mind that within a few days of enrolment the sixth forms will apply to your daughter's current school to have her records transferred, so hopefully you will withdraw from sixth form 1 before that happens. Otherwise, sixth form 2 may have to apply to sixth form 1 for the record instead and it gets more complicated.

That’s really clear, thank you SO much!
