Narrow feet

Not entirely sure if I'm posting in the best place but can anyone advise me on places to buy school shoes with narrow fit options? Son is 14 and currently in a size 7E in a Clarks shoe. He's outgrown them and said he wants a lace up rather than Velcro or those elastic lace types. He was looking at some Kickers briefly in a sports shop last week but I'm not sure how they are for width. He's the type of kid who will be really awkward about what he does and doesn't like, and I can't be 100% sure that he'llbe completely honest about how a shoe fits when he tries it on Hmm but obviously the narrow fit narrows(!) my options anyway.
Nearest big city is Manchester in case I can't get fixed in a town nearer to me (Bolton, Preston etc)
Exh has the foot gauge we bought so have asked him to measure him this weekend to get a rough idea.

I have wide feet and have never been able to wear Kickers.

Wow still in Clarks at 14! Just let him try some on from any shop and pick the ones he likes. Measuring for width is just clever marketing to get parents to spend ££ more than they need on Clark's or start rite. Do you really think he'll be picking the correct width shoes when he's paying for them!

Ignore the poster above. Afraid I can’t help but as a narrow foot person you can’t just buy any pair - they rub/fall off feet etc. It’s much worse for girls though as at least he wants lace up. You’ll have to go into a proper shoe shop and try a load on - you’ll learn to see what’s narrow and what’s not, style wise. Good luck?

Ignore the poster telling you to go anywhere! Both DS wore Clarks in year 13. One was a 9E and the other was 7.5E. Now wearing Loakes in E fittings and yes they pay for them. Occasionally they find cheap shoes that fit, but not always.
I have paid a fortune for AA over the years.

Ive found Kickers to be very narrow. Lace ups are good as they help to keep narrow feet “in”.

Yes Kickers really suit my narrow feet too.

I always got school shoes for my narrow foot DD from www.wjfrenchandson.co.uk/ in Southampton (in person) and they do online as well. However never tried as large as that or in mens.

Thanks all, some very helpful replies. His dad is going to take him to Boundary Mill at the weekend to try some so fingers crossed he get's sorted, otherwise I'll have to book a day off work and take him. Had a look at his feet last night and they certainly are quite narrow for the size, poor kid.
