Yes EversoDelighted we did, we actually emailed them over the weekend as was nervous we hadn't heard and they emailed us back and told us the time slots and said an email would be going out. We have also booked the 11-2 slot so we'll be passing each other on the tour no doubt Grin

Great DD is negative Zanda but so sorry she has tonsillitis- i used to suffer terribly similar age and finally had them out in my 20s. Don't think they really do that now. Hope she recovers soon Thanks

Fiddlersgreen · 29/06/2021 09:13

Glad she is negative @Zandathepanda

Monkey2001 · 29/06/2021 11:40

Glad to hear negative result @Zandathepanda

@crazycrofter if you are looking for bribes, I think Swansea give £1,000 a year to anybody with AAA and Leicester offer up to £3,000 as a golden hello to high achievers. DS1 was offered £1,000 if he accepted medicine offer at Leicester, so it is not just about getting numbers in as medicine is always significantly over-subscribed.

Thanks @Monkey2001! Unfortunately none of those places do Occupational therapy! I looked into the bribes a while ago… from memory I think Lancaster and Kent also do something similar for good results.

SandyBayley · 29/06/2021 13:23

Birmingham Open Day is back on! 24 and 25 July 😊

Zandathepanda · 29/06/2021 13:40

Good about Birmingham. There’s nothing that can compare with seeing it face to face.

Shimy · 29/06/2021 14:39

@Zandathepanda Hope your DD gets well soon.

@Monkey2001 Re: Bribes/Golden hellos - Couldn't help but snigger a bit. They might be re-thinking that in this current time of grade inflation if they don't want to go bankrupt.

MirandaWest · 29/06/2021 15:18

Managed to book DS another earlier driving test - now up to October 14th. Have asked Him to talk to his instructor about when he might be ready to take his test so I don’t end up with a test too soon, although hope might be a fine thing!

EwwSprouts · 29/06/2021 18:37

We're in the out club now. All yr 12 sent home to SI.

Monkey2001 · 29/06/2021 18:47

@MirandaWest did you manage to change the test through the gov site or did you have to get the app?

So sorry to hear this
EwwSprouts · 29/06/2021 20:05

Thanks Fiddlers. I hope your DS is doing ok?

Interestingly if students repeatedly test negative this week school is considering letting them back next week. I think because they've gone big not just bubbles.

EversoDelighted · 29/06/2021 20:13

Sorry Eww, what a drag. I've got DD doing LFTs every day because the rest of us are still going to work / school and we don't want to risk spreading it.

Question about the Open Days. We are going away towards the end of July, but with restrictions lifting we are getting lots of emails about open days in that period, which we can't go to. Do you think they will carry on over the summer or will we have to wait till September?

EwwSprouts · 29/06/2021 20:23

Agree & school have said daily tests too.

Fiddlersgreen · 29/06/2021 20:50

He’s doing ok thanks, still just cold symptoms and coughing but coughing more than before.

That’s interesting that your school might let some back early

I think this is crux of the matter! Schools do things differently in all settings- as we all know - but the ‘interpretation of the ‘roolz’ about ‘big’ or ‘small’ is scary Shock Apparently, there’s a move to have a more ‘uniform’ approach to SI for the Autumn Term?
EversoDelighted · 29/06/2021 20:59

In DD's case she's the only person in her tutor group and English class that's off, so she's feeling a bit left out. They have all been told to come back on Mon although some of them were in contact with the positive person a couple of days later than others. Who knows how it's all worked out.

Shimy · 29/06/2021 21:09

So sorry again to hear so many are being sent into SI. Upside is most have completed their exams and it’s nearly end of term. I wonder when under 18s might be called up for their jabs, are they even planning on vaccinating them? I’d like to think this SI nonsense will be over before school resumes in September.

ealingwestmum · 29/06/2021 21:58

I posted this before. It may have got missed. Under 18s (our year group) will not be turned away in walk ups. It just won’t be publicly advertised.

Oh really?!
EversoDelighted · 29/06/2021 22:29

We've never had walk-ups in this area, strictly booking only, but it could change. There aren't any big venues (football clubs or similar as I've seen happening on the news)

blahblahblah321 · 29/06/2021 22:31

Our local vaccination centre posted on Facebook earlier saying they are starting walk ins from today, I wish I'd commented about 16/17 year olds

Shimy · 29/06/2021 22:40

Ealingwestmum What's a walkup? is that a walk in clinic for vaccinations, if it is I haven't heard of one in my area.

AnneOfCleavage · 29/06/2021 22:40

Oh no, so many isolations. We have a few in year 7 who've just tested positive. DD met with a friend who's at a different school and it's year 7 at her school and also year 7 at her brother's school so it's hitting the tweens.

ealingwestmum is that all areas? I volunteered at a walk in hub yesterday and nothing was said about under 18s. Wish I'd asked.

I feel very fortunate that DD has had her first one as she's a COVID Marshall and got a spare one at the end of a shift. She is 16. Has her 2nd one mid August so will be fully vaccinated by start of year 13 and will be 17. Luckily had v mild symptoms however with Pfizer I believe symptoms are worse after 2nd.

AnneOfCleavage · 29/06/2021 22:42

EversoDelighted ours in just in a local Church and not a particularly big one.
