Private school options in SE London for a (lovely but quite average!) child?

We're not happy with our son's junior school (currently in Year 3) so are looking to move him asap. We live in SE London but but can't see our lovely, quite normal, but a little sensitive, son getting into somewhere like Alleyns or Dulwich College.

Any other options for a through school? We really don't want to go through this again in Year 6! Crossing fingers for St. Dunstan's but know that's getting competitive to get into too. Royal Russell could be an option but it's quite far. Any other ideas?

(And we're way out of the catchment for the Charter schools - otherwise I wouldn't be worrying so much!)

Have you had a look at Colfe's? I have DC currently in Y4 and Y7, both have been there since Reception/Nursery and are very happy. DS is academically very average but a talented sportsman, DD is far brighter, both are very much catered for. Very 'normal' parents from all walks of life and not at all cliquey which was important to us.

Yeah Colfes is a good call, and Eltham College would have been, but as it starts in Y3 and is trying to go co-ed, the likelihood of a boy getting a place in y4 or Y5 is small....

Farringtons in Chislehurst is another option? Boys aren't as well served as girls as some boys schools have gone coed but the girls schools are remaining resolutely all girls.

If none of those options work out then somewhere like Heath House is a gentle harbour in a storm and seems to match the kids to the right school at 11?

Alleyns?

Farringtons and Bishop Challoner in Shortlands

@CimCardashian Alleyns doesn't generally have vacancies outside the usual 3+/5+/7+/9+ entry points and is one of the most competitive schools to get into....

Sorry OP I didn't read that you mentioned Alleyns in your first post.

We are SE London. DD1 going to St Dunstan's and odds are still OK for that - I think it still gives a high proportion of offers. 2021 was a bulge year so your year should be better. Colfes is a little more academic than St Dunstans. Eltham College can be very competitive. We are considering Farringtons for DD2 - good for SEN.
