I watched with interest the information and support on this thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/secondary/4177427-PART-3-SW-London-Girls-Indies-11-Results-Decisions-Panic-Over and wanted to start the same thread for South West London parents with daughters who will be applying for secondaries (independents and grammar) for places in year 7 in Sept 2022.

Where are you applying, how are the virtual open days going..... and to tutor or not to tutor?

I think KGS is the week after only, feb 10/11?

alidasi · 31/01/2022 13:46

@refusetobeasheep

So I'm thinking we'll hear from Claremont and Surbiton High this week, KGS and Radnor House next week. Anyone expecting differently?
By the latest second week of February it's says on the email
Benny12 · 31/01/2022 13:48

didn't surbiton high and LEH post earlier than expected last year ? so quite possibly surbiton high although LEH was quite specific about posting on the 8th

HighRopes · 31/01/2022 14:52

I don’t know about last year, but a few years ago Surbiton posted 31 Jan. But they are interviewing rather than relying on the ‘all about me’ bit of the exam paper this year, so I suspect it’ll be later this week / early next, especially since they sent that ‘hang on, we’ve only just finished interviewing’ email last week.

For the others, I can’t imagine Putney will want to be very different to the WHS timings, given they will have a lot of overlap in applicants, but they’ve just said mid Feb.

Peachy009 · 31/01/2022 21:15

Hello! Anyone who applied bursary received appointment for spgs? They said home visit will be in February and havnt heard any. It could be indication of they don’t offer the place to DD. I am wondering it is only me who hasn’t got appointment or everyone hasn’t received yet ? My DD at state primary and only sat SPGS bursary only place and Tiffin’s girl school.
TIA

Benny12 · 31/01/2022 21:29

thanks @HighRopes

refusetobeasheep · 02/02/2022 15:34

This wait is endless ...

Pigtastic · 02/02/2022 15:42

I totally agree!!! I don’t seem to be able to distract myself from waiting from the results.

Benny12 · 02/02/2022 15:52

thank god im not the only one ...😳....the waiting is awful

travelturtle · 02/02/2022 16:02

Me too. We have covid in the house though which is a distraction at least (but not a welcome one 😢)

Confusedmimfromberlin · 02/02/2022 16:03

@Benny12 definitely not alone! And I got yet another reminder email from one of the schools... makes me jump every time 🙈

PricePoint · 02/02/2022 16:04

We were the same BUT one positive offer was such a release of pressure and anxiety. It reqlly did make a huge difference. It may not have been yhe one we wanted initially but it really made us feel heaps better. Hopefully you will all understand what i mean soon.

Broccolimagic · 02/02/2022 16:10

I’m not sure I can wait another week. I keep checking emails even though no results are due for us yet! How can I have got things so out of perspective?! Good luck everyone.

refusetobeasheep · 02/02/2022 16:15

Just got home and letter from St Catherine's on the mat ... let DD open it as she's done all the hard work - although really because this was our back up and I gambled it was a yes ... which it was, so at least the what if we get no offers nightmare is over here .... but still we wait for the ones we really want .. tumbleweed ..

Broccolimagic · 02/02/2022 16:16

@refusetobeasheep that’s brilliant! Well done to your DD. It must be such a relief.

refusetobeasheep · 02/02/2022 16:21

Yes @PricePoint is right, having one, even if not the favourite, is a relief!!

SkaterGrrrrl · 02/02/2022 17:18

Congratulations sheep DD!

I think what we all want is options, or at least an option. The girls have worked hard and we want their efforts to be rewarded in some way. Some of the girls are not particularly bothered (parents clearly are !!) and some just want to be near theor friends or not disappoint their parents.

I think we, and i certainly am guilty, forget they are only 10 or 11 years old. Must be tough with that expection on their little shoulders.

refusetobeasheep · 02/02/2022 18:49

Claremont Fan email just arrived too ...DD ecstatic as her favourite. Got a wait until KGS though which my favourite as much nearer so got a tricky time ensuring DD doesn't believe CF now a done deal!

Benny12 · 02/02/2022 19:43

well done @refusetobeasheep ! .....

Westlondonmom22 · 02/02/2022 19:56

@refusetobeasheep when is KGS suppose to arrive?

Flyingbytheseatofmypullups · 02/02/2022 20:26

We got a yes from Claremont as well @refusetobeasheep , DD very happy too.

Broccolimagic · 02/02/2022 20:43

@Flyingbytheseatofmypullups and @refusetobeasheep congratulations on Claremont. We got a yes from there too! Wasn’t expecting it today so a lovely surprise. Do you mind me asking how far you live from Claremont? We are pretty far but I do like it.

refusetobeasheep · 02/02/2022 20:48

@Westlondonmom22 I think KGS post offers on 10th Feb

Flyingbytheseatofmypullups · 02/02/2022 20:48

@Broccolimagic we are TW11, so not exactly local. DD loves the school though and happy to get the bus.
