IB or A- Levels

My DD in Year 10 at girls boarding school is trying to decide whether to take A levels or IB.
She is currently predicated 9's and 8's in all subjects. She isn't too sure what she wants to read at university or what profession she might be interested in. Although, she has spoken about law a lot.

What are the pros and cons of IB vs A Levels ?

Depends if she wants to stay broad or go narrow, tbh. The IB is great, but it's a lot of work. Does she know what subjects she would want to do?

I'm not too sure as i haven't had the chance to speak to her too much about it but she really enjoys, chemistry, english, RS, history, ...

For the IB students need to continue with Maths as one subject and also take a foreign language (this can be new or one taken at GCSE) so that's 6 subjects all together.
The school should provide more information about specific IB options pupils study.

I do not see that the IB confers any advantage. It’s more subjects and that suits some DC. If she likes humanities best and likes the idea of law, History, English and a MFL, maths or another subject she likes would be great as A levels. Chemistry is usually taken with maths A level too in my view. So is she keen on maths?

She doesn’t have to study law to be a lawyer. There are conversion courses. My DD did a MFL degree and converted. So keeping options open (By a non law degree) might help her understand there are alternative routes into law.

It is possible to take A level Chemistry without Maths A level, the new 9-1 GCSE is sufficient, especially for those with high grades.
However it is not possible to take IB without Maths.

Yes it’s possible but not that many do it. For law, chemistry isn’t necessary.
