Parmiter's or Watford Grammar for Girls?

Hello! My daughter is in Y5 and is now studying towards 11+. She is strong academically and loves sports. We are considering Parmiter's and Watford Grammar For Girls. Any parents whose children go to one of these schools or plan to? What are these schools best known for? One is better than the other? I'm not sure where to find additional info (other than what's on their website). Any topics, word of advice?

I was hoping you'd get some other responses from someone more knowledgeable than me about this. The one question I have is is are you in catchment for both? I'm not aware the catchments overlap but I may be wrong in this (hence hoping someone with more knowledge than me answered first!) We live in a qualifying postcode for one but not the other. This info can be found on their websites.
Giving you a bump for more answers! :)

www.elevenplusexams.co.uk is probably the place you need. I used it a lot when my children were at this stage (many years ago).

How close are you to the schools? Parmiters catchment is quite close to the school, apart from a very small number of out of catchment places. You should also consider how your dd will get to school, how she will get home if she has clubs after school etc.

I don't have dcs at those those schools, although one of mine is at the Boys. I have friends with children at both schools though.

The main and obvious difference is that Parmiters is coed. Both schools suit academic children, but Watford Girls has certainly supported my friend's dd who has some additional needs and who is doing well academically now.

I also know people who's children did not get on at either, due to low level bullying, or because the schools were too strict/high pressure for them.

Honestly, I'd go with your closest, unless you have a preference for single sec or coed.

Where abouts do you live @varzap? The 11 plus is notoriously hard for these two schools. What are your other options?

I think it's hype more than anything. What are you particularly interested in? Extra curricular activities, music, sports, academics, behaviour? I would think twice before putting my dc through the gruelling 11plus process with little to no hope of them getting in.

They are both great schools OP. It largely comes down to whether you and your dd prefer single sex or co-Ed.

Which did you go for OP? Would be interesting to know which area the catchments overlap.
