What is the ‘all boys boarding school’ experience like?
Is in house dining inhibiting for social interaction of all boys together.
Is this school just an ‘academic hot house?’ And boys only socialising is sports?
Any advice from parents here.
Would coed be a better balance. Any advice appreciated

From what I know so far about Tonbridge, it's a fantastic school. My DS will be joining Year 9 Sept 2022 having being through the admissions process last year. Tonbridge does have a lot of breadth and the boys do a lot of sports/art/music, etc. I personally like the fact that it isn't full boarding and that boys can come home if they wish on Sat afternoons (except for the first Sat each term I believe), the house system means that boys socialise within their houses, but also during the day and whilst in school, they mix with everyone else and not just people from their houses.

I did consider King's for my DS but Tonbridge was an obvious choice for me - stronger academically, single-sex, weekly boarding, etc.

Hi hope you don’t mind me asking- how long did entrance exam results take to come out? My son sat this exam and Sevenoaks and we are now just waiting...

My DS took the exam when he was in Year 6 (Nov) and the results came in Jan. The scholarship exam was in Feb and we had the results within 2-3 weeks.

Is it the Year 7 exam your DS took, I think that's the one they do around this time of the year.

Yes, he’s just taken the Y7 . We missed the first round inc the scholarship exams so have no idea when he’s likely to receive the outcome. Hopefully not too long so he can relax a bit.

Results in, place offered. Now have to wait for the Sevenoaks results then decide quickly.

My son would be same entry point as yours. We are listing towards accepting at the moment based on how my son approaches life. Am pleased we are not school less as I thought we might be back in December/January when we first realised we’d missed all the entry dates!

Hi both, we’re just applying to Tonbridge and my son is terrified about the interview. Any tips?
