Epsom College-cat scores for entry

Really like the look of Epsom College after I toured there last year.

Wondered if anyone knows cat scores as an average to get in? Have a sporty and fairly academic daughter, who will be sitting 11+ in Jan.

She’s got bags of potential, but is currently working in 3rd gear. She needs a school that will push her and keep her on her toes!

Current cat scores are 133 Maths, 125 English, 134 Verbal.

What else are they looking for?

Whilst I don't know what the averages are for entry, my DC who started this year had very similar CAT scores and is doing comfortably well academically amongst the year group. So I imagine your daughter will be fine. The interview is very relaxed and all just about getting a feel for the child and where their interests lie.

Thanks, that’s helpful.

Anyone else with a child at Epsom? How are they getting on? What sort of child does the school suit?

I have two girls there. One is sporty and one is more academic but also gets stuck into sport . It use to be classed as an all round school but there's definitely something for everyone. Kids are confident and happy... even in the crappy year we've had!

That’s great to know. Have a sporty and academic kid here too. How are they liking the Sat school? Seems like it’s done quite gently and builds up in year 9.

Would you say the school is nurturing or does it suit a more robust child?

Hello. It's a school for all. It certainly plays into confident kids that are all rounders .. rather than purely academic but there are plenty of smart kids as well.

It's very supportive of all their kids and anyone struggling is quickly scooped up - but it does encourage self learning with an emphasis on the child taking responsibility very early on.

Saturday school is sport only in the morning year 7 and 8, then lessons from year 9 (in the morning and sport in the afternoon). They quickly adapt!
