Hi all,

Just wondering whether you might be able to throw some schools at me so I can go and research? We are currently in inner West London. We have sons and daughters and want to have them at the same school if possible. We were wondering about comprehensive or partially non-selective state schools as we like living among the school community with friends nearby etc.

We would move anywhere in North, West or South West london. We really want to get one in and relax :p

Which schools do people rate?

Look at the SW Herts schools, they are partially selective (all technically comprehensives even the ones with Grammar in its names), and all have sibllings rule, the single sexed ones have cross sibling rules.

Hi, if I had kids of both sexes I would move for Alexandra Park School in Haringay—if I could afford a place in the tiny catchment. But that's my pick for north London, where I'm based, I don't know about West or South West London.

Are there no good mixed comprehensives near you? Maybe you're more central but for West London there are plenty...I'm thinking Holland Park school, Hammersmith Academy, West London Free. My own daughter is at Chiswick school which we're very happy with. For a London school it has a beautiful site and large playing fields. It depends if you're looking for something specific. What are your criteria other than mixed comprehensive?

I would not worry about having them in the same school it is not like primary where there are lots of school events they are mostly focused on year events. So parent evening will be 2 different days even if you have 2 in the same school. I had 4 children over 3 schools for many years and it was not a great hassle I can recall once there was a clash for 2 of them having a Christmas fete on the same day. I went to one fete as it started the drove the hour to the other school and got to their fete about 1 hour on.

Search for the school(s) your individual child will flourish in.

@samosamo off the top of my head:

Dame Alice Owen
Alexandra Park School
Chestnut Grove
Wren Academy

Or try for a bursary at a good private school.
