Hi @pj2789
My good friends two DS attend the senior school. She says its fine for her older DS - who is confident, mild learning needs and sporty, but not great for her younger one who is quieter and academic. Class sizes she says are way to big - 28 (!) and he doesnt get the stretch he needs. So she is moving the younger one for next academic year when he will be in year 9. It sounds like a big and boisterous school from what I've heard.
Not sure if this helps ....

NBHH is relatively small, only around 300 kids I thought?

What makes you say boisterous @PipaJJ

@pj2789 what year are you looking for?

pj2789 · 12/03/2021 13:57

Yes , just checked with a parent and it’s 60 kids per year and 4 classes of 15.

Looking for a school that is nurturing and plays to the kids strengths rather than 1 size fits all . A school that celebrates uniqueness and really isn’t too pressurised and competitive. Too small a class would not be suitable . Flexible on location in london as long as easily accessible.

It's not 28 kids per class at all. My son goes there and it's 20-22 kids in each class. We're really happy with the school. Teachers are great, academic standards are high and the results are pretty good. Our only complaint is that the sports facilities aren't great although they do have a sports hall.

I have a child in NBH. Class sizes around 20, not pressurised but children are singled out for their strengths. Generally, not boisterous, the school is sandwiched in a residential area so the local residents quite rightly, would not maintain the good relations they have with the school if the kids were unruly. What attracted me to the school, when attending the open day, was the great relationships the children had between themselves. So far, so good.

My son is currently at the local state school we are looking to move him to a school with smaller classes. He has been offered a place at Devonshire House and Northbridge House. We are so confused which one to go for! We live in NW11 so Devonshire is nearer. Any advice I would be so grateful.

NBH prep is great. They stream kids from year 5 and do intensive preparation for 11+/13+. By the end of year 6, all able kids gone and the bottom 1/3 kids move to its own senior school, including all the troublemakers. You get what I mean.
