Co-Ed schools in SW london

Dear all,

We just finished the 11+ process for DD1 and we are preparing for next year for DD2.

DD2 is really keen to go to a co-Ed school. Do you know what are the best co-Ed schools in SW both in terms of academic and all rounders - preferably closer to Wimbledon.

Thanks

Kingston Grammar is the obvious candidate there. It is very popular - in part at least because there aren't an awful lot of coed options. It's a great school but you would need other options too.

I'm sure people will be along to talk about schools further in to London but it going in the other direction you could also look at Claremont Fan Court School (Esher) and Radnor House (Twickenham).

Claremont Fan Court in Esher worth a look - has changed a lot since the new head took over

Some children from Wimbledon make the trip to Epsom College or Ewell Castle.

Or you could head in the other direction to Emmanuel

I was going to say Emmanuel if you can access the trains from Wimbledon to Clapham Junction.

Kingston Grammar and Emmanuel would be the closest options. They are also the most oversubscribed ones near Wimbledon. If you don't mind a school shuttle bus, then add St John's to your list. Also there is City of London Freemen's that can be reached by train. I loved Radnor House when looking at schools for my DD. Truly lovely little school in Twickenham. She wasn't keen on coed though.

Also check out ibstock place. New headmistress due to start in September I believe .

Is Alleyns too far? That’s another academic choice I think.. (is LU co-Ed?) Royal Russell is a beautiful co-ed school with less pressure but not sure on your commute?

LondonGirl83 · 01/03/2021 06:35

Alleyns is the most academic option within South London and there are school buses. Also I think there is a direct train between Wimbledon and Herne Hill station which is walking distance to Alleyns

Thank you all for the great suggestions. We will now consolidate the list and start the on-line investigation Smile!
