Secondary schools in Suffolk

We are leaving London and moving to Woodbridge, Suffolk later this year at a tricky time for our DC who will need to transfer into Year 5 and Year 6 at a state primary before transferring to state secondary- does anyone have any experience of Farlingaye High School? We are also wondering if Thomas Mills in Framlingham has a better local reputation and would be worth moving into catchment for/ applying for a place out of catchment? It seems very daunting to think of them having so many school moves in a short time period especially given the pandemic, any views on Suffolk life with children and babies (we have a 1 year old) very welcome!

Great friends of ours had DC at Farlingaye and never ever had anything negative to say about it. Huge advantage to have local friends. They love Woodbridge!

Thank you so much for the feedback on Farlingaye. Can't wait to be actually allowed to visit schools at some point!

In fact they had lots of positive things to say about it! It seems to have lots going on. Hopefully someone who currently has a dc there might respond to you. Many people with awful schools would bite your hand off for this one. Have you checked primary schools have spaces? The family I know used the CofE one. They have always gone to church. I would guess the primaries are popular.

I don't know Woodbridge that well, but I'd second that - I've only ever heard or read positive things about Farlingaye. Same with Primary schools - St Mary's and Kyson both have very good reputations, and there may well be others.

Thank you- yes I feel lucky that it has a good reputation and hopefully will be a great place for the kids to move to after one more year of primary. Always good to have any firsthand feedback especially from anyone who has moved from a different area and not gone all the way through the local primaries. My kids are very outgoing but don't know anyone in the area and also have SEN so I do worry a bit. I don't know yet which primary they will be placed in, but we will be living in a very rural part outside Woodbridge where I know the village school is undersubscribed (tiny!) so it's likely to be there rather than a Woodbridge one.
