That didn’t look very clear. He’s in year 11 and is 15 years old

What sort of thing does he enjoy? A 15yo can read adult books. At that age I liked Agatha Christie (nice and short and clever too). He might enjoy other thrillers like John Grisham?

Or does he like fantasy? Has he read Harry Potter, The Hobbit, LOTR? There are lots of other books like that.

Magical realism like Neil Gaiman?

I'm more of a fan of female authors that traditionally appeal to women (Austen, Atwood, Tyler) which I am hesitant to suggest for a 15yo boy. Others may have better ideas if you can give us a steer op,

Catcher in the Rye may appeal tho. Some teens hate it but some love it IME.

He was always quite into sci-fi. A massive Dr Who fan. He’s hard to persuade to read anything these days though. English was always his subject but his teacher has said he should read more

Non fiction is often good. Ds2 wouldn't read but did have a few biographies (of sporting people in his case) that he enjoyed. He has also liked some political books.

Sci fi hmmm not my area but how about something like Do Androids dream of electric sheep? It's what Blade runner was based on. Or the hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy - very funny.

Orwell...1984, Animal Farm; Lord of the Flies. Game of Thrones book series.

Red Rising is very good, sort of dystopian Sci Fi, a bit like the Hunger Games but male lead and set in space.

If he wants shorter books, some classic Sci Fi like Issac Asimov may be good. Newer ones tend to be quite chunky and in trilogies. Early Iain M Banks - The Player of Games is good and not too long.

Books that have been made into films he might've seen? Hunger Games, Ender's Game, the Maze runner, his dark Materials, LoTR, etc
