Hi - does anyone use GCSEPod at home for GCSE revision? What is it like? I'm really keen to buy it for my demotivated son who isn't doing any work at all since lockdown. They don't do a free trial so I'm reluctant to spend over £200 (a huge amount for me) on something that he might not use. Really desperate for any help with this :)

My DC use it through school subscription (so you should check if your DS's school have one). DS loathes it for some reason I can't quite understand. DD doesn't mind it, but prefers other sorts of revision. It's basically bite sized videos on different topics. I'm not sure I'd spend £200 on any revision too. Has he tried Seneca (which provides most stuff free and is the thing my DS really found useful)?

Thanks for your reply! Yes, I've checked with my DS's school and they don't have a subscription. I heard about it from a parent at a school who does use it and she said it worked quite well with her DS so I was hoping to give it a go. The price is much too high though and I can't bring myself to spend so much on something he might not use. I've had a look at Seneca and it's great but it didn't appeal to my DS - I had just thought the interactive nature of GCSEPod would really help him.

Similar to Redsky, DDs school provide it but she has never liked it but saying that lots of her friends think it's great. She also mainly uses Seneca.

Is he Y11? Have you spoken to his HOY for any suggestions, it's so very hard on them, DDs motivation is definitely on the slide but she's plodding on at least with the hope that she at least gets good enough grades to move her on to what she wants to do in September.

Thanks - yes, he's Year 11 and feeling very low for months now. I've tried so many things to get him motivated but nothing seems to work. His HOY is very understanding but at the end of the day, there's not much she can do. I'm the one with him all day and I can' get him to do anything. Desperately sad to see someone who could do well, just give up on school.

It's worth checking out YouTube for some short podcast style videos if that's the bit the appeals to you for your son, there's lots of good stuff on there. We use Seneca (that I'm a big fan of to be honest) and GCSE Pod and I do like both, although a personal subscription is very expensive.
