Hi
What benefits do you think it will be for a child if they get private education versus state grammar school like Nonsuch?
@mumsneedwine, is this in/near London? Sounds great. Care to share the name?

@rolloutthebarrel, I can totally understand they are not into online clubs, it's probably depressing as it is so clearly not the same at all. Regarding netball, do you think girls lost interest across the board or would you say that the girls in the A&B teams keep going and the C&D etc girls drop out over time?
I think the A&Bs are still going strong! I wonder if they can keep their enthusiasm going with no competitive matches though?!

@sanam2019 sure. Charters School in Sunningdale. Big local comp to some nice rich houses and some social housing. A true comp.

Nonsuch puts a lot of pressure on the girls to do well. I know kids needs encouragement to keep focused but a lot of Nonsuch girls are self harming and on anti depressants. My daughter couldn't cope with it and moved to a state secondary school. She got GCSE's at A&B grades, I'm sure had she stayed she could've done better but at the cost of her already shattered mental health. I'm glad I moved her.

I'm sorry your DD had such a difficult time Mycomfyplacetochill.

We live near Nonsuch, know several girls who attend, and my DH used to teach there. We see lots of smiley girls after school and DH says it is a lovely school and the girls seemed very happy and content. DD will hopefully go next year.

However, I do agree it's not for everyone. DS is at the super-selective boys Grammar and while there is a huge emphasis on kindness and caring there, there are lots of extracurricular, and it's truly a wonderful school, the boys who are happiest are driven and want to do well, and they are expected to do their best. It's definitely not for everyone and anybody considering these schools for their DC should consider whether it suits their personality as well as ability at age 11.
