Timing significance of interview (11+)

New to the process and am wondering if there is a correlation between timing of interview and likelihood of an offer. Are those children who score best generally the first to be interviewed? And those with lower scores among the last in Jan?

Not referring to schools who interview everyone (like Emanuel) or schools that invite a very limited number along to interview (like City of London boys).

I mean those schools who invite over a period of say a month.

DS's original interview date was the 6th, but it was then postponed while it was moved online. Which has clearly thrown everything up in the air.

In the nicest possible way, I think you're overthinking this. No school would be that obvious by effectively giving you a heads up based on your interview date. Just encourage your DS to do the best he can, and then try and move on, otherwise you'll be a nervous wreck!

Oh, and a few from DS's school weren't offered interviews, so there is some selection going on. But with the ISEB, I know some applied for the hell of it as they were sitting the exam anyway, so not sure you can read too much into that. It's not a normal year.

@BookShark very true. Good advice. Useful to know about others you know about - it’s not something I’m discussing irl. So I suppose I’m trying to make sense of any patterning. But your experience certainly shows how strange things are this year.
