Private schools offering great overseas university advice?

Original post just disappeared...grr. Anyway, looking for stories/experiences of private schools in their support of applications to overseas higher education. What constitutes really great advice, support? Not looking to employ an agent as would really like to get this wrapped up in the private school package, as expensive enough as it is!! What would you expect from a school and do you have any recommendations/stories/thoughts to share? Primarily considering US, Canada and Europe. Many thanks in advance! Smile

Wycombe Abbey has a US university admissions advisor in house.

For a boy or a girl? How old is your child?

I think you would need to look at leavers destinations of the schools in your area and go from there. Then I'd call each school and ask directly.

US admissions are very different and generally require years of planning ahead as they like to see a child well rounded in academics, extra curricular activities and leadership activities. And all of these should be for the (ideally) 3 years prior to application. UK seems primarily academics so it is very different.
The most selective schools in London seem to be experienced with this but even then, I would rely only on my own research and drive the ship myself.

Most larger independent schools in London have specialist US admissions people employed in their higher education departments.

@motherdemeter, here are some schools to start off your search:
Aldenham School in Herts
City of London School for Boys
Forest School, E17
RHS Suffolk
Highgate School
@siz99 is right that you need to add extra curricular activities into the mix.
