Exchange student after Brexit

We have a long term booked 15 year old student due to stay with us from late January for just under 6 months and hoping to attend a local state school. We have done research but seem to get contradictory answers about whether she can attend a state school. One site says she can only attend a private school and another that schools are obliged to take in a child who is in their local authority. Ignoring the complications of Covid for the moment, can anyone please shed light on whether she will be allowed to attend a state school or not? We seem to be going round in circles with no-one able to give a definitive answer.

We had one for a mont,h five years ago, went to state comp with my children, but it was a very informal arrangement with the school. Can't imagine there are any laws about it. All the head cared about was that he wore uniform.

As will be arriving after the end of this year, I don't think they will have any right to attend a state school. Could attend a private school that has a licence to take international students - so likely to be one of the expensive boarding schools.

Assuming they have a visa they can attend a state school.

Children in the EU used to have the right to attend school if they were here for any length of time. No so anymore.

Here. LAs cannot refuse admission but are advised to inform Home Office if they think child doesn't have appropriate visa.

If the DC is here for less than 6 months from a visa free country, which I should think will be all EU countries, it's probably without a visa. I think this is going to be a problem for OP.

Get some legal Advice op. Brexit is so confusing. The student may well need a student visa to study here.

As I've said, schools have to get a licence in order to be able to accept international children with study visas. I imagine it's only possible for private schools, and that this way of earning money is over.
