Warks 11+ the long wait for results

As per the title really, anyone else just fed up of waiting now? Can't see they'll be through much before NY. Even dd is getting fed up of waiting.

We are waiting too. When I rang last week (about the proof of address stuff) I was told they would not be on time and more likely to be end of Jan.
we aren't too concerned though as she didn't really put much effort in and is happy to go to our local comp with her friends

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 21/12/2020 21:20

Dd doesn't mind where she goes (out of her friendship group one is very likely to be going to Shottery & the other, who didn't take the test, the local comp) she just wants to know how she did Grin. Her cousin is B'ham so still sat it on the original weekend & they had the results about 4 weeks later. WCC admissions have been pretty rubbish throughout the pandemic though so I don't know why I expected any different.

Oh I've had a nightmare with proof of address. My CT bill was already on parent portal, they then requested more info so I asked the Child Benefit office for an up to date letter, which I sent. They then asked for a copy of my car insurance &, today, have asked for a copy of my passport & driving license Xmas Angry. I've lived in this house for 9 years, have applied for all 5 of the children's primary school places from here. I'm on the electoral register & have lived in Warks my whole life. I was a bit short in the email today & asked why they need quite so much information when no other parent I've spoken to has been asked for more than one, possibly two, things.

@BernardsarenotalwaysSaints do be careful that sounds like the potential for identity theft. I’d be concerned in your position. Every scan (for something completely different) recently I was advised to put a slip of paper across ‘supplied to xxx on ddmmyy’ in a location that didn’t obscure the data but also couldn’t be snipped out.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 22/12/2020 09:04

It has crossed my mind @PettsWoodParadise & is one of the reasons I've now asked them why so much information is required. I have actually put a slip of paper on all the photos with my name, the date & the reference number along with the reason. It's also all contained on one now very long email, all the replies do come from a different person though. I did speak to them after they had received the CB letter & they wouldn't tell me why it was needed, just that it was.

That's odd! I just sent a hospital letter with my dd's name and address. I haven't had a follow up (just an automated reply to say they have received it).

I know it's definitely delayed and tbh, I would imagine there is a good excuse. The guy on the phone signed when I asked him and said 'good question'. I'd imagine he's having to fight off the complaints. I think they are all working from home which may have something to do with it. They have all the results back, it's just (for some reason) delayed getting them on the system (whatever that means). I expect covid will be part of the reason.

How did she do, OP? Mine was nowhere near, bless her Grin. Both not at all bothered or surprised

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 23/12/2020 13:48

I just came on to ask you the same @user1471530109. Ah bless her, she gave it a go though & that's quite a big thing at 10/ just11, so well done to her! She's got a reasonable mark so possibly, possibly not but I think she's decided on the local comp either way, so we won't bother with waiting lists. Just need to wait for 1/3 now!!

I've got to do this all again in September (or whenever they end up sitting it) as DC2 will be going up 2022. He's got his heart set on AGS, where his sister has just been 'either or but I want to give it a go' all along.

Was so pleasantly surprised when the results came through yday as id called the day before to see if it would be after Xmas so I could relax about it atleast for the Bank holiday weekend etc and they confirmed it wouldn’t be until after Xmas!

Thankfully can relax even more than planned as ds did well enough for me to tell him that AGS is virtually certain (qualifying score would have to go up by 20+ points for him not to get in). Apologies because that sounds really boasty Blush - I promise I don’t mean it that way, I’m just so chuffed for him that all his hard work has paid off and I also tutored him myself so a bit of a personal victory for me too.

user1471530109 · 24/12/2020 16:59

No, Louise, that's fine and congratulations to your ds. What a lovely Christmas present to have the results just beforehand. The difference is, my dd didn't work for it and literally made the decision to apply the day before the deadline Hmm. She then did nothing over the summer and only did a few cgp book tests in the autumn term.

It was a victory for me though as her anxiety the previous year was so bad CAMHS are involved. For her to walk into the exam happy and come out of it very happy has been the highlight of my year Smile. She has also learnt that just because you want something doesn't mean you will get it (hard for a kid) and that you need to work for it (she currently wants to be a Dr).

🥂 to you both and merry Christmas.
