Pysics A level without Maths

My daughter is moving to a new sixth form and has pretty much decided on art, history and biology. She will likely go into the creative arts industry. But she loves science and was torn between physics and biology (predicted 8 in both) and chose biology on the basis that she did not want to take math a level (her weakest subject, predicted a 7). But looking at the course prospective, it pointed out that math was not necessary for taking physics. It might possibly be her fourth A level as she would be taking it for interest rather than thinking of going for a science degree (but you never know), and could conceivably drop it (or bio) after a year. Any opinions on physics without maths?

Physics becomes more like maths at A Level. It would be hard to excel if your dd has a relative weakness here. Maths A Level might be helpful for Y12, to give her the foundations for the physics, and she could drop it after a year.

There's a lot of maths in the A level.

Thank you. She would not take maths A level even for a year as that would limit her other choices. I believe the school will go over her choices further down the line, but just wanted opinions of any parents of children who are taking physics and possibly without taking maths alongside. Her current physics teacher is encouraging her to continue (actually i may ask him about not taking maths as well).
Wish they could pick five less intensive A levels!

In my DCs 6th form the vast majority of students do maths with physics, they only really allow physics minus the maths in certain circumstances.

DS is taking physics and maths. He wanted to take physics without maths but in every sixth form we looked at it was not allowed (i.e. maths with physics was mandatory) or the teacher said he would be really be making it harder for himself if he didn't take maths. And I guess you need to bear in mind that most students will take maths if they take physics, so the teaching may "assume" this.

At the moment (only a term into Y12) DS is finding the physics helps with the maths (well, the mechanics part) rather than the other way round :)

Well, I did biology, chemistry and physics. I would have thought three sciences is allowed?

Things may well have moved on in the last few years (decades)

DS was thinking about three sciences at one point. School would permit physics without maths if had a decent GCSE grade in maths.

DH is a Head of Physics. He says it is really not a good idea.

Thanks everyone. I spoke to her last night and she said that despite her teacher saying she has a good shot at a 9 she says she is 'not that good at it'. This is not an uncommon statement from her which drives me crazy, but I think she will go with art, history, biology and if she can psychology (school prefers three A levels but open to a fourth if a strong student).
