Online lockdown provision at Parli, CSG and St. Marylebone

Just wondering if anyone with kids at the above schools can comment on how their provision was during lockdown. Both online work set and in terms of general communication and support (checking on the pupils etc)?

One of DDs best friends is at Parli and other at CSG. They were in y7 when lockdown happened and provision was really good for both. From speaking with their mum's CSG was a bit more relaxed but still good.
Bear in mind it's very unlikely schools will close again and if they do the provision is going to be very different to last time. I would query the provision they give to self isolating kids instead as this is and will be more of an issue than whole school closures.

I have a child at CSG. I'll be honest and say I wasn't too impressed during lockdown, pastorally in particular but academically too.

But agree with what @foxesandsquirrels says re provision while isolating being more important going forwards.

@lastminuteschoolsdotcom yh my friend did say some parents in Y8 and 9 weren't impressed but she was happy with it.

Not good, I'm afraid, and I'm generally a big fan of St. M. There was a lot of work assigned, but no online teaching until the very end of lockdown (the last two weeks of summer term). The kids were basically left to teach themselves.

No first hand experience of the lockdown CSG experience but a lot of second hand. All the parents I spoke to were less than impressed. Pastorally very poor. Their lockdown provision is now available on the website but it’s hidden in something like Friday Letters? Not sure if it mentions anything pastoral now I come to think of it.
However this may be unfair on CSG as the parents who were complaining had v high standards so maybe unrealistic. Also I haven’t heard anything about St M or Parli lockdown so can’t compare.
Have you made the preference for sept 21 or are thinking about it for sept 22?

BananaDaiquiri · 01/11/2020 12:08

@camdenish I have already made preferences but it's something that I just hadn't thought about too much. TBH it's a bit of a moot point as we are pretty likely to get a place (hopefully) at one of these three and pretty unlikely at the other two (both of which I would have been happy to send my child to). Though one of them could come up from the waiting list.

We were quite unsure which way around to put our top two. I wanted one school first (one of the ones we are unlikely to get a place at, but late waiting list spots aren't unheard of from where we are). My partner and DD wanted the other one (where we are likely to get a spot) first. It was a difficult decision as I visited two of these schools last year and they haven't visited either, the plan obviously being for us all to visit them, along with our local "definite to get a place at" school this year, but we couldn't due to Covid. DP and DD were booked onto a Saturday tour at Parli which got cancelled. They won on the preference list order!

Ah, okay. That all makes sense.

TheEndisCummings · 01/11/2020 19:57

Parli took a while to get going but once it was in place, it was quite full on, well structured, thoughtful.

SamBee1 · 05/11/2020 14:09

Agree with @TheEndisCummings - was happy (as possible) how it all ended up, although I would have liked more opportunity / feedback to discuss how it is going for my daughter. There's one year (hers) with a lot of children currently isolating and teachers and again I think they are struggling with combining online and in class teaching simaltaneously, but I understand that.

Parli seems to take things on board and learn as opposed to continuously making the same mistakes which my feeling some schools are doing.
