Moving to Solihull-schools

Hi all,

I am torn between Solihull town, Shirley, Knowle, as they have outstanding primary and secondary schools.
Does someone know what catchment is for Tudor Grange secondary academy? Does one need to live in Solihull town, or also Shirley?
Where would I maximise the chances of my child getting into an outstanding school? It seems each of these towns only have one outstanding secondary school, so I presume large waiting lists...
And which one is the nicest in terms of houses, community life, green space?

Hi All

We are thinking of upsizing into centre of Solihull. School catchment is not massively important as we are intending to send our daughter to Eversfield. With this in mind we were have put an offer on the property in Manor Road in Solihull. Just want to get a view what you think of this part of Solihull. The important factors for us are being close to centre of Solihull and sufficient space and future saleability. We are also keen on period property. So that is what attracted us to Manor Road in Solihull. Just want to get your views on this road and area. Thanks

Solihull is a lovely place to live. Manor Road is a nice area.

Can't really help in terms of current school/catchment knowledge, but just wanted to say that I grew up in Knowle and loved it. I went to Knowle Junior school (joined in Y6) and then Arden. I loved that school.

Thanks Cally70. How does this road compare to Dorchester Rd, silhill hall Rd and broad oaks rd etc.. Are they all similar to manor road?

Thanks again Smile

All nice roads with older style properties. Broad Oaks can be a bit of a cut through road. There are speed cameras down there now.

Not sure if this link will work but this map shows the catchment area of Tudor Grange. For historical reasons it is quite bizarre. If you live in the centre of Solihull, do take care if you want Tudor Grange School only as many of the roads with lovely old period properties and some of the most desirable houses actually feed into much less desirable ( although not necessarily bad) schools.
