Hi, Wondering if anybody would recommend good secondary schools in the Tottenham N17 area..
Harris Academy Secondary Tottenham is one in my interests at the moment...
Its Outstanding rated by ofsted, generally would like more info really of those who have attended and what they think generally?!

www.compare-school-performance.service.gov.uk/school/140935/harris-academy-tottenham/secondary

You can find stats for different schools on there.

Not many kids pass their GCSEs at that Harris so wouldn’t be my top choice if you’re child is academic.

Thank you very much for the info

I would take those results with a pinch of salt. They are from the first cohorts and noone wanted to send their kids there so you ended up at Harris Tottenham, not actually wanted to go there. I think it'll get better results in the next couple of years as it has been oversubscribed every year for the last 4 or so years. It is very academic and doesn't have much space. I would suggest Gladesmore too. It's much easier to get a place now that Harris is here.
Both Harris (as a group of schools) and Gladesmore, have a reputation of getting results and they will want to uphold that.
Alternatively you can leave your child's name on the waiting lists of other schools and they'll likely get a place eventually.

Malmontar, I have in fact looked into Gladesmore too.
Based on their progress overall they are average though atmospherically seems to be a good school.
Academically children are encouraged to do well.
It all seems so confusing having discussed about these Secondary Schools with close families and friends all can be very misleading and judgemental in bad ways..
Not all children always do well in Outstanding Schools in my point of view, it's really down to the child's individuality and capability.
I have discussed with my daughter about her preference and has her heart set on Hornsey School for Girls though have a son who I would prefer attending the same school in future!
so have a high chance of moving to a different location due to housing issues not knowing when it would happen! So things may change within 2-4 years..

Yh I think a lot of people are in your shoes. Funnily atmospherically Gladesmore was my least fav. I personally hated it. Most people with girls in your situation go for Hornsey Girls. Very convenient with the 41 bus. We didn't go for any of those but we have an EHCP so had more choice and could go west of the borough.
I don't think the schools are the problem, it's more the intake. It is changing with a lot of gentrification happening in Tottenham Hale but it'll be slow and will bring its own negatives with it.

I've worked in lots of schools and personally wouldn't send mine to an outstanding. There is a lot of 'computer says no' types of situations because of risk of it looking bad for Ofsted. I hope it's changing but I've always preferred 'good' schools. Much better pastoral and child centered outlook, especially around curriculum and GCSE options. However that's a broad statement and just my observation.

I have worked at Gladesmore and know a number of teachers. It is a great school and focussed on getting the best out of every child. The teachers I know are great!!
