.. was convicted of assaulting a pupil, what would happen? Presumably they'd lose their job and never work again? What if they were charged but not convicted? It's not me but it is somebody I know v well.

why should a person found not guilty be sacked?

CuriousFluff · 11/09/2020 20:42

Depends on the nature of the assault. If its a clear hit or sexual then yes probably dismissal. If the circumstances are not sexual and suggest the teacher was pushed beyond control by the pupil, and or it was accidental or not clear cut and circumstances odd and fuzzy there would definitely be an investigation and a range of measures could follow, still possible dismissal though but not always. Depends on the circumstances.

Sorry I think I misread the post

ScarMatty · 11/09/2020 20:47

Totally depends on circumstances and the nature of the assault

Thanks. Not sexual. Possibly some mitigating circumstances/ provocation but charged after CCTV and several adult witnesses. Not looking good I guess. I'm not defending the teacher. But wasn't a witness or at the school in question.

They could also expect the matter to go to the TRA if they were convicted.
