Are these okay for a potential oxbridge applicant / top uni applicant ? ( think LSE, Cam, Kings etc)
: History, English Literature and Economics + a Law based EPQ ?

Looks fine.

Yes. I'm in charge of University guidance at my (private) school. These are ideal.

Sounds lovely options. But by the way, are you asking as for someone who wants to do law as a job?

Only reason why I ask is that everyone I know who has studied law and gone on to be a lawyer said they regret studying it at uni.
(Same principle with accounting too)

I worked in recruitment-related fields years ago and top legal and accounting firms love people who have a breadth of knowledge about other stuff. Its "the client dinner party test".....will you put them to sleep or have you got interests outside of their job?

Law conversion is just but a year. You cover loads of stuff on a law degree you never need (& I am told is deadly dull).

Just saying. Not saying you shouldn't do a law degree if you want to.

Thank you @areallthenamesusedup - much to think about from that. Yes a law degree and then wants to be a barrister ( says human rights but i think every law prospective student says that! likely family law.) loves law ( essay competitions, courses and reads books) and i can't think of another degree subject they might want to do.. but you have brought up some really pertinent points so thank you!

@seashellssand - I have a different perspective from areallthenamesusedup. My Oxford law degree was fascinating and would be excellent preparation for going on to be a barrister. What is disappointing after an academic law degree is subsequently training to be, and becoming, a solicitor. Jurisprudence (more the philosophy of law) is intellectually stimulating, something I never found to be the case with the LPC, training contract or working as a solicitor. So, it really depends what interests your dd about law. If she has an academic interest in the subject, then a law degree from Oxford or Cambridge would be perfect for her. If her ultimate goal were to be to work as a solicitor in, eg, a City law firm, then other degrees may be more interesting, first, to avoid the huge disappointment of practical application of the law being boring as hell!

@Walkaround Thank you so much. It's the academic discipline that interests her, although she would probably like to qualify as a Barrister but keeping other post grad options open. She's not too interested in the practical application of the law as of yet ( this would be something to see if she liked at Uni via Mini Pupillage's etc but she could always choose another postgrad option if law wasn't for her as a practice)
