After the shambles of this year, is anyone else very worried for their dc for next year. They've not been at school since March and so far the government consultation outcome looks like very little adjustment is being made to exams. They've gone totally quiet on the thought of moving the exams later in the summer next year- anyone know when the decision was to be made? Plus the likelihood of students missing more school this academic year due to localised / bubble lockdowns. Am now really quite concerned 😧

I agree with everything you’ve said OP. My child will take their GCSEs next year, has had no teaching since March and is now expected to catch up and take exams next May onwards. It seems very unfair and there’s been no news about how the exams will be organised. Mind you if this year’s fiasco is anything to go by, I don’t have a lot of hope! The thing is that my DC is listening/watching the news about the current exam farce and is feeling very anxious already about what lies ahead for their year. It’s truly appalling and is on top of the normal worries for teenagers plus pandemic concerns.

I totally agree and am very worried. In my opinion there hasnt been much changes for all the subjects.

I really hope they adjust the grade boundaries or am I just wishing!

My dc only started online lessons in June and even then it was 1 hour every two weeks per subject. I have a child in year 8 in another school who was having online lessons all day from day 1- the comparison was huge!

Have been told he will have exams mid September, which will be good so am hoping from that they will decide how to manage the rest of the year.

Am really not looking to this year.

My daughter starts y11 in September and my Son is going in to y10. I'm concerned about the prospect of continued disruption for both. I have told them that every piece of work they do from now could impact their final GCSE grade and just hope they both get off to a good start in September.

Come over to the older thread starting year 10 gcse 2021. Lots of parents sharing concerns. But I don’t know how to send you guys the link

Feeling extremely nervous too. Patchy online teaching, lots of repetition. Not much sense of progress. Also scared about resumption of schooling as she is quite vulnerable.

They will adjust the grade boundaries if necessary to fit the bell curve and bring in line to the 2019 results so don’t worry. The 2020 results will always be better due to the massive cock up of now having to revert to CAGs but if I had a year 10 I wouldn’t worry too much...

@indy69 I can’t find the thread you mean. To post the link here. You need to be on that thread then at the biggie if your phone press the square with the arrow (could be on top right corner if iPad or other device). Then come here and select paste. If possible, thanks!
