Hi, I am looking for schools for ds to start y7 in September. He is a well rounded child with strengths in maths, science and PE. I know of the slightly alternative way of teaching and more informal way about St Chris has. Do you have any recent experiences? Do children thrive?
Is it good for maths science or only for the more arty children?
I am not particularly interested in high academic push, but on the other hand I want to ensure a good standard of teaching taking into consideration the children’s strengths etc.
Any things I should be aware?
Any feedback welcome

I wouldn't recommend if he is good at sports if you want competitive sport.

redandblue11, have you looked at King Alfred School in Golders Green / Hampstead? I've heard good things about their maths, not so great at football, but they do play matches against other schools.

seasonfinale thanks for the feedback, do you know if they still play against other schools. I mean he enjoys sport and is reasonably good but I wouldn’t say has a real talent to go into it seriously.
Do you know about maths?
Soma thank you for that , I will have a look, but we are local to St Chris hence my question about that one.

Coming to this thread late, but just wanted to add that after a very poor experience with our son, we withdrew him from St Chris. We went in all starry eyed, hoping for a true alternative education, but the hard reality was chaotic: dreadful communication, almost no tracking of our child's progress, extremely varied standards of teaching, disgruntled parents placated rather than issues resolved. You're honestly better off sending your child to a local state school and paying for a tutor if you want more support - you won't find it here.
