St Paul's interview

I'd be grateful to hear anything about the Paul's interviews? We now have one in late June. DS has had no tutoring at all, and rather limited schooling over the last couple of months, and we don't know anyone to ask...I would like to be able to give him as much information on the kind of thing that will happen, the kind of questions to expect. Do they still send out an 'all about me' form? What's the English test like? Is it ever the head who interviews? Thanks so much.

What age group is DS?

MidLifeCrisis007 · 28/05/2020 20:46

DS got asked "why don't clouds fall out the sky?".

He didn't have a clue but still got a place.

Thanks, he is 11 and going for the 13+. Was it this year, MidLife? I'm guessing the changes can be quite significant from year to year... congrats and hope he is loving it (or wherever he chose)

My brother (this was years ago) was asked how to spell the word "yacht". Sorry not that helpful Grin

@mummykanga - it was at 11 for 13+, but 5 years ago.

He chose to go boarding in the end. DS2 is also going boarding but has 4 or 5 friends from his class going to St Pauls for year 9 entry this September. I think they just want a boy who can be put on the spot and think independently.

My son had a question about a difference between team sport or single one. Advantages and disadvantages.

My son got a place there for this year coming but is going elsewhere.
Traditional interview but with a quirky side. Usually bit of science apparently in the interview but I’d mentioned he likes telling everyone during footie what to do. The master gave him an imaginary football game of international players, current state of the match and asked him to play it forward.
In my interview (didn’t know) on same morning realised they are clearly checking out your intelligence / debating / we argued about why the school needed to be so swotty. I loved it but wasn’t for my son.
