Is this available on DVD suitable for a 13 year old?

There's a production from the Globe theatre on iplayer at the moment I believe

The Globe Theatre one is a good production but has shortcomings for GCSE I feel:

• some scenes cut (porter scene is the most major one)
• Malcolm played too young/naive imo
• goes 'off script' with audience interaction (porter scene, coronation celebration opening)

The most 'interesting' bit is they portray Lady Macbeth as pregnant which brings a new dimension in some areas.

On the other hand, if you're not looking for GCSE accuracy, it is an enjoyable production.

There's a version with Christopher Eccleston on BBC4 at the minute from the RSC.

That said, The Globe production is suitable for 13yo or younger. Nothing particularly gross, and because they cut most of the porter scene that helps too from an innuendo point of view.

I think Patrick Stewart is amazing at Shakespeare but not sure if that one will be suitable?

The black and white Judi Dench one, with Trevor Nunn directing, sticks to the script (I think misses one bit out). Not gory but it’s pretty tough -boring- going.
There’s a nice (slightly gory if you don’t like seeing pigs heads being cut up) modern adaptation with James McAvoy as a chef Macbeth. That’s good as a contrast. I love the witches being binmen in that.
