Our school has done a survey prior to planning any timetables for year 10 returning to ask if parents want to send their children back this term or not. Have other schools had this choice and will you send your year 10's back or not ?

Meant to say “don’t want”

interesting thread.

we had a questionnaire ages ago but nothing since so no idea what they're planning.

They've been v impressive until now with a good mix of lesson types following the usual timetable - but really for ds's wellbeing, some contact time is what's needed.

The school bus unlikely to restart so we'll have to drive him- so hopefully the sessions will be full days.

Havent heard anything from my y10's school yet.
Its a small school only approx 120 in year and no 6th form, so hoping there will be some lessons happening.

From June 15th, Our school are planning to have Y10's in school, a quarter of the year in each week for 4 weeks. One week for each group.

They will concentrating on Core subjects only - each session about 1.5 hours. The teachers will move between classrooms. Social distancing at break and lunch etc.

It's school but not as they know it. No school uniform. Not necessarily their usual teachers (but they will be specialised subject teachers). It's not being sold to us as 'socialising'. The work they do will compliment their online work.

School are sending out a questionnaire as it's not compulsory.

I have no health anxieties about my Y10 going back for a week. I'm just not sure it's worth it?

think the government have been quite strict in telling schools they can only have a quarter of the year group in at any time. Doesn't seem to be any wriggle room. I had hoped that they could get them all in - there's enough space?

But no. he's just in for 2 and a half Thursdays -mainly doing careers stuff and some (socially distanced) sport.

clearly that won't help the GCSE effort - by the end of term they will have missed more teaching than the Y11 kids whose exams were cancelled, I cannot think that the exams for this lot can go ahead in the noral way at the normal May/June timing?

Just had an email from school about year10. They all get a half-hour chat with a teacher. I have to take him into school for this, and then he gets to sit alone in a room with a computer terminal talking to the teacher via the computer.

I’ve emailed to ask why he cannot do this from home!

Total box-ticking exercise. Although it will be the first time he’s been able to communicate with a teacher since March, so that will be nice.

Filled in a questionaire about going my Y10 DS going back into school on the 15th. Responded that yes, I would send him in if school was open. Heard nothing since so i've no idea what's happening. In all honesty it'd be a relief if they didn't open as he needs new school shoes & trousers.

Just hear my Y10 will be in for 1 day 10-3pm before the summer. There will be general information assembly and then they pick clinics to attend as well as attending compulsory lesson eg contains coursework and sports session no uniform needs make up lessons missed during day. Provision has been full on-line timetable since March 20th and homework as well as exams this week.
Y12 has had full teaching timetable now doing exams this week and next. Not heard about going in but expect 1/2 day to a day UCAS focussed. lots of questions as planning on medicine

WhatHaveIFound · 11/06/2020 11:19

Just had an email to say DS will have 2 short days in school before the summer holidays. Thankfully uniform is not required.

Our school (comp) is now planning for alternate weeks starting 22nd, but because of government limit they may not be able to attend all of the week if too many pupils wish to return. They have produced a really good video explaining the safety things they have put in place.
