We are looking for an independent secondary school for our yr 5 daughter who has dyslexia and ADD. Currently live around Guildford so ideally would find something that works around Surrey. Have ruled out the central Guildford schools and St Cats, where our eldest is, and are really trying to find a mainstream school which has the support integrated within the subjects rather than just a 1 to 1 lesson. Considering Priorsfield, St Theresas, Belmont, Duke of Kent but would be keen to hear of personal experiences, opinions and recommendations, even if they are further afield.

Its been a while since I was in the area but I would certainly look at The Royal School Haslemere if you are looking at Prior's Field. Both were very similar 15 yrs ago. I know The Royal is now mixed but both used to be very good at getting the most out of slightly less robust children than would go to central Guildford schools.

Have you looked at Box Hill school?

Think Box Hill is a bit far for us but will have a look at both that and The Royal. Thank you.

Why bother now just let her stay with friends and send to private secondary.

I have a child aged 10 in yr5 she would be devastated to move school now

Manor House a stones throw from St T’s and gets better local feedback and exam results

My experience of Duke of Kent has been nothing but 100% positive, it's a truly happy place that brings out best in children academically and emotionally. I am not sure how much SEN support is integrated, but individual learning support is available.
I'd second Manor House over St Teresa's, lots of girls get train to Effingham Junction then school bus.
