Does anyone know whether the council has started making second round of offers or when they are expected to?

They were supposed to do so from 26th but I have several friends with DC on waitlists and they haven't heard anything as of this morning. You can't call the council admissions office now either - supposed to wait 15 days. It has been a really tough year in terms of getting places in the borough this year. We have friends at 1.3km and 1.4km from Orleans Park, which normally would have got them in but not this year.

I am guessing that movement will be much slower this year due to delays in appeals etc. Mine are on a wait list with little movement and I'm not really expecting much change compared to usual years - was told appeals might be in September which is not ideal

Meant to add I am not in London this is for a different area Smile

I was told they are offering school by school so it will take a while for WL positions to update!

mummyme2016 · 06/04/2020 11:04

Thanks @Meredusoleil.

My daughter was offered a place in the second round offers on 31st March. I was in constant contact with the schools and my local authority via email.

Meredusoleil · 07/04/2020 10:37

Oh congralutions Jessica!
So which out of your 6 choices has your daughter now been offered?

Jessica82 · 07/04/2020 11:19

I only put 3 schools down. We got offered third choice school but all 3 schools were first choices for us as we would have been happy with any of the three. The school offered was actually my daughters preferred school but put it as third choice as it was the furthest away from us.

mummyme2016 · 07/04/2020 11:39

Congratulations @Jessica82

So does that mean you didn't get any of your 3 choices on National Offers Day then?

Jessica82 · 07/04/2020 12:15

Yes, no offer on national offer day!

Jessica82 · 07/04/2020 12:19

My nearest catholic school changed their distance criteria this year so it was basically a lottery for all baptised practicing catholic’s in London. So despite living less than a mile away from the school for 38 years meant nothing! Other two schools had a distance criteria. I initially missed out on a place by 100 metres but got offered that school in the second round offers.

Meredusoleil · 07/04/2020 12:59

Wow that is bad! Are you in Richmond Borough or a different one if you don't mind me asking? The LEA have to find you a school somewhere whatever happens. Did they not offer you an alternative that was not one of your 3 choices?

Jessica82 · 07/04/2020 13:34

I’m in the borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. The borough did offer me a school but it was not a school I was willing to send my child to. The school in question is an undersubscribed school and it’s an undersubscribed school because no one wants to send their child there!

Jessica82 · 07/04/2020 13:45

Sorry I meant I was not willing!

Meredusoleil · 07/04/2020 14:13

Oh! So now you've been given a school in Richmond? Isn't that going to be a bit of a trek given Hammersmith Bridge is currently closed for the foreseeable?

Jessica82 · 07/04/2020 14:51

Sorry, realised original post was referring to Richmond borough. The school I’ve been offered and accepted is in Wimbledon.

Meredusoleil · 07/04/2020 15:27

Oh OK. No wonder I'm getting confused lol!
