Best on-line maths programme to diagnose and target gaps

It feels like this question should be answered somewhere but I can't find it. My Y7 DD is dyslexic (with an EHCP) it affects her maths as well as her reading. Her maths teachers have just chucked the curriculum plans for Y7 on line and said work through it.

This doesn't seem very useful, and it feels like we have an opportunity to actually drill down into DD's difficulties and start filling gaps. Whilst the best way to do this might be me working through curriculum tests with her and assessing issues - I need to work full time, from the spare room. So what I am looking for is an on-line maths programme which will do placement tests and provide questions for areas of difficulty, I am happy to do teaching for concepts if needed.

Maths whizz and Doodle maths both say they personalise but possibly they all do. Ideally I'd like it just to present the cumulative learning rather than curriculum levels. Its a bit dispiriting for DD to be reminded she is working at Y5 level, way below her actual Y5 brother.

Any recommendations?

and probably won't get back to this until this evening but thanks in advance.

We are in the exact same position DD y7 with ehcp working at low y5 level. Maths is the thing that's worrying me the most in all this.

How funny Malmontar! I just worry that the key gaps in her maths knowledge aren't being filled.

Mathsisfun is good

Thanks hadn't heard of that will look. I say that to DD all the time - mainly to annoy her - but I do think that. I love maths!

Mathletics doesn't personalise but you can adjust the year so can set in below or above current year group and change up tp 6 times. Can choose something harder/something easier. 2 day free trial atm.

Maths Whizz personalises - we didn't like it as it put my DD 5 years above her age and then set everything on that and only went up to a few months more than that. If they do better than normal on the test you can have problems.

Thanks Koalas - doing better than normal on test won't be an issue. I've also realised that I have second criteria, don't want anything that puts her under time pressure (she has slow processing issues).

Guess I may have to download a load of free trials and look.

I’m interested in this too. Especially something without the time pressure. I’d be interested to know if you find anything suitable. I’ve heard of Hegarty maths but not had chance to explore it as yet.

Give doodlemaths a try. It aims to keep the child working where they get 80% right, so after the (longish) assessment phase it will adjust as necessary. It’s developed by maths teachers and teaches the National Curriculum in a sort of spiral (building on what’s gone before), so you can be sure it will, over time, cover everything. It does make a ‘wrong’ noise which can be offputting, but that’s the only thing I don’t like about it.

I signed up to Doodle Maths this morning, done some placement tests so we'll see.

I think we'll try doodle maths too

I like IXL - the maths section, not the English.

It’s very clear & easy to use.
Yr tabs
In each yr tabs are topic sections Ie fractions, percentages etc...
Within each section are sub sections, all within the same topic but asking the questions in a slightly different way. So pictorially, in a chart, sentence format...

This builds up knowledge and confidence within topics.

IXL is very very boring but it does help you find out what the child is finding difficult.
If you "get" the skill, you will master(100%) it easily, but if you don't, it will test you until you do. The feature is quite unique.
It's a great site, cheap too.
