alternative to frixion pen

TeddTess · 12/03/2020 16:43

ds is left handed and traditionally a bit of a smudger as he writes.
Frixion pens have been amazing and the only pen he uses.
Unfortunately erasable pens are not allowed in the GCSEs.

Can anyone suggest an alternative - something non smudgy.
Uniball type pen no good. TIA

DS1 had the same problem and used Staedtler fine liner pens for exams. He hated them but they were the best option from all other pens for him. I think the best thing about the fine liners is that they flow because it can be very tricky for lefties to keep the pen going. And they don't smudge.

DS (also left handed) used the Stabilo easy start handwriting pens for GCSEs and will be using them for A-levels this summer. You can get black ink refills for them.

Thankyou both, will give them a go

I'm a leftie and use an Uni-Ball Air Micro Pen. The ink flow is constant and it doesn't smudge.

I would maybe use ballpoint rather than gel pen

TeddTess · 13/03/2020 15:42

yes gel pens are a shocker for him.

is the Uni-Ball Air Micro Pen very fine? do you need to press very hard?

Another leftie here. Not in my experience, no.

The pen has a 0.5mm ball, so I'd say normal line width.

Gel pens are not allowed in exams and pens must be black.
