Hi everyone. I am looking for advice about senior schools.
We are a French family and our sone started a senior school this year in London YEAR 7. We are a bit disappointed with this school and would like to give a him a chance to have a better one. He didn't sit for the ISEB exam. Do you think it is still possible for him to sit for 13 Plus exam in Year 8 for some schools or to apply for In year Admissions? we a bit lost and know how to find another school now...
Thanks so much for your help
Sophie

Each independent will have a different process for 13+. Not all intake at that point, or only have limited number of spaces. Some pretest and offer in year 6 for deferred entry, subject to achieving a minimum standard in y8 exams or Common Entrance, others may set their own exam to be taken in y8, although they may require early registration for this, or anything in between. It is unlikely your current school will prepare for this. However as you are not yet 2 terms in have you really given it enough time to adjust?

Thanks a lot for your quick answer! yes I'm afraid our current school will not make it! do you have an idea where I could find a list of secondary school which don't require the ISEB exam? thanks again

Some schools may have vacancies in Y8 due to relocations etc.
Your best bet is to call the schools you're interested in.
Where is London are you and why are you disappointed with your current school- as someone else said, its early days. Is it state or private? What about the Lycee?

Where in London are you? There is Dulwich and Whitgift (boys) for example. Also Haberdashers (boys) in North London. Ibstock Place, Kingston Grammar and Harrodian for coed. St Alban’s (boys). I am sure others can add to this list.

you could try talking to an education consultancy like Gabbitas who offer a paid service whereby they will get to know your child and help you find the right place.
