Computer Science or Religious Studies

Anyone able to advise on which might be viewed as a better gcse to take.

Religious studies or computer science.

DC torn between the two subjects and I thought I’d just throw it out there to all you experienced Mnetters. Is one considered easier?

In a growing world of the internet, wouldn’t it be better to take CS?

ErrolTheDragon

At uni I excelled at HCI, my designs started from the point of view of people with various disabilities/difficulties trying to use the software.

I think I had a 12 page document at O level, my program solved quadratic equations! Then another 12 for each of the other 3 programs.

Secondary RS teacher here!

The most important thing is that your DS chooses what he enjoys the most. If he wants to go into a career that is tech based, then Computer Science will more than likely be the best choice.

If he isn't sure about his future career, or thinks CS is going to be too complicated/difficult, then RS may be a good choice (although there is a lot of content to learn).

RS teaches you transferable skills that are useful in all careers; being able to see things from other perspectives, being respectful of others beliefs, understanding other faiths and cultures, giving balanced opinions, understanding other opinions and beliefs...all useful as a human being in my opinion (but I may be slightly biased).

It's what he will enjoy the most, or what will help him in his future - there is no 'best' option.

Ds had this dilemma. He opted for CS in the end, even though he’s really good at RS. Then a week later he had a wobble and decided to do RS after all, and drop Greek.
