JAGS families : where do most live?

Dears, My daughter will goto JAGS in Sep 2020. Since we are relocating from abroad, I don't know much about the surrounding areas.

Can existing families please help in 'Which areas are easily commutable from JAGS and where do most girls come from'.

Quite a few ‘Dulwich school children travel from SW11. (JAGS, Alleyns, Dulwich College) There is a coach at 7.30 and 16.30 plus a later bus to Clapham South Tube I think. I think there is a fairly extensive coach network which might give you an idea of where others travel from. I would work backwards from the maximum commute your DD would find ‘doable’. (Bearing in mind clubs, homework and traffic!)

I was just going to say that I knew a few from SW11. I’m sure there will be plenty local to the school, too.

I’d also choose SW 11 and I’d feel safer there.

Furthest north in DD’s year is Fulham/Putney - getting coach from Kings Rd or Putney Hill. Furthest south is Bromley - train from Bromley South to Herne Hill.

Picking up from parties is a complete pain!!! She appears to have deliberately chosen a group of friends who live as far away as possible!

Why wouldn't you live as close as possible if you could choose? Dulwich Village, East Dulwich, Herne Hill and surrounding areas all have nice family housing and good local shopping/bars/cafes and trains up to town.

@chalkyc2 because, whilst an ideal location, the housing in these areas are very expensive - think £1m for a 3 bed Victorian with little garden space or storage.

People I know commute from Clapham, Streatham, Beckenham, Bromley. Probably a good idea to live near a station that comes into Herne Hill or North Dulwich that works for your commutes as well as your DD's.

Thanks all for your feedback. I will look at the suggested locations. Is it a normal practice to engage a Property consultant so they can look for the place(s).
I will also look at Rightmove website as someone suggested it is a good place.

Friends of mine who've used property consultants have found them to be a bit useless. I'd recommend Rightmove, prime location to get a feel for areas and then getting in touch with local estate agents.

You might also get useful advice here if you give a budget and where you need to commute to.
