Trinity sports scholarships

I know that there is a thread on Trinity, but I was hoping to get specific expertise and experiences on sports scholarships. My son (Y4), is very sporty, in that he swims 4 times a week with the local swimming club and he also plays football (practice and match on Sunday). For his swimming, he is good but not the best of his age group. It is a highly competitive club, so further up the groups has county and international swimmers. For football he loves it, but he is not a stand out star. I guess my question is what is needed for a 10+ scholarship? He is bright, and I also wondered if Trinity do all-rounder scholarships? Finally, what sort of percentages are the average scholarships and how do they decided the level offered? Sorry, millions of questions! Thanks!!

The standard of sports scholars at Trinity is high but it sounds like its definitely worth you son applying.

Lots of children on scholars play at county level but they also look for potential. The assessment if it’s the same as previous year will include generic fitness/agility skills and then you pick two sports to have a closer assessment on so he could do swimming and football. Trinity love a team player as well as a stand out.

Re all rounder, they do offer this for 11+ not sure about 10+. Re percentage I’m not sure, I think it’s from 5% to 40%ish.

My understanding is that Trinity like to ensure there is enough in the pot for a good amount of bursaries.

I can’t recommend Trinity enough, the sport is amazing but it’s also so much more and my son could not be happier.

Hope that helps.

Good luck x

Thanks so much, that is so helpful. He will be swimming 5 hours a week from next week, so he will be pretty fit. So I guess we just give it a go and see. He is quite keen to try some of the other sports.
